Giacomo Bozzoli was hiding in a chest of drawers in his home

Soiano del Lago. Fugitive Giacomo Bozzoli was arrested by the Carabinieri on Thursday afternoon, 11 July. The 39-year-old was spotted at his home on Lake Garda, precisely where the Carabinieri had first searched for him after the Supreme Court had confirmed his life sentence.
It is still unclear why he was there; he may have voluntarily decided to return to Italy after being separated from his family in southern Spain. In the last few days there had been an increasing number of appeals for him to turn himself in to the authorities, but according to Attorney General Francesco Prete, he had no intention of turning himself in.
A carabinieri patrol stationed nearby noticed his presence: the soldiers may have noticed suspicious movements through the window, or picked up signals through bugs hidden during the search. They broke in and found him after a thorough search; he was hidden in a chest of drawers of a double bed. The break-in took place at 17.45, Bozzoli was taken out at 18.45 through the back door. He is now at the Masotti barracks in Piazza Tebaldo Brusato.
His car, the Maserati Levante that had been filmed on 23 June between Manerba and Desenzano, was not found: his movements remain shrouded in mystery, other details may emerge after the interrogation.
