Val Badia. The base jumper Raian Kamel, originally from the Camonica Valley (he was born in Breno 36 years ago) and resident in Cinisello Balsamo, in the province of Milan, lost his life on the morning of this Tuesday, 6 August, after having jumped with his wingsuit from the Piz da Lech in Val Badia, Trentino.
The man (pictured), a filmmaker well known for his extreme adventures, had jumped with some friends who, however, did not see him land where they had planned to, a meadow in Colfosco, and therefore raised the alarm.
The rescuers flew over the area with the Aiut Alpin helicopter and spotted the body in a frozen gully at an altitude of about 2,400 metres, in an area that was almost unreachable because there were no paths.
It was difficult to recover the body, which the rescuers reached by abseiling with a winch and which was eventually transported down to the valley.
It was ascertained that Raian Kamel had died instantly after crashing into a rock. The man had already filmed a previous descent from Piz da Lech that he had made on 22 July 2022.
