Preschools, 4,000 children return to classrooms

Brescia. 4 thousand Brescia children enrolled in the city’s pre-schools return to school this Thursday, 5 September.
It is back-to-school time for almost 4 thousand children in the city. They are the pupils of the city’s kindergartens, who will start school again on Thursday, 5 September. News of the 2024/2025 school year and attendance figures were presented at Palazzo Loggia on Wednesday.
The trend in preschool enrolments in the city over the past five years shows substantial stability when analysed in absolute numbers. On the other hand, the number of sections is decreasing, reflecting the fact that some of them have been authorised in recent years with a rather low number of children, which is not sustainable over time.
The distribution differs from area to area: enrolments are falling especially in the old town centre and in the north, while they are growing in the south of the city, an area that in the immediate future will be affected by major housing developments, as well as by the construction of a new 2-14 year old school complex, called ‘The School of the Future’ and financed by the European Union.
