Bad weather does not stop, thunderstorms return after the weekend

Brescia and province. The summer of 2024 was the hottest ever recorded globally (source: Climate Change Service of the Copernicus programme), but once the extreme sultriness is over, the monsoon season begins.
On Thursday, 5 September, cloudbursts hit Bresciano, causing flooding, landslides and at least a dozen road accidents.
A brief respite is expected on Friday and Saturday, but a worsening of the weather conditions is possible as early as the evening of 7 September. This is the tip of a disturbance that will move towards the northwest. The peak will be reached on Monday, when thunderstorms will start to hit in the early hours.
In the Brescia lowlands and lakes the rain could start even earlier: accumulations of more than 10 mm per hour are expected, so the risk of flooding remains high. Thunderstorms will also pass over the Alpine and pre-Alpine arc, but rainfall is expected to be less intense.
