Lonato, sinkhole near the Tav tunnel construction site

Lonato del Garda. Another sinkhole has opened next to the Tav construction site in Lonato del Garda (Brescia). The ground subsidence occurred near the building of the railway tunnel in the area of the moraine hills, in San Cipriano, where, already in the recent past, a large hole had opened in a farmhouse and a geyser of foam had gushed out.
Again, the subsidence occurred on the property of two agritourisms, La Graziosa and Corte Aurea, between Lonato and Desenzano. The hole that opened up has a diameter of about a hundred metres and over 200 cubic metres of cement had to be used to close it.
Fortunately, there were no injuries and the infrastructure was not damaged, but the continuous subsidence certainly causes concern.
The Cepav Due consortium, owner of the construction site, precisely to avert the risk of ground collapse along the Lonato tunnel face, injected 5 million litres of cement mixtures and silicate resins to consolidate the area.
