Sale Marasino. This Sunday morning at 10.40 a.m., Trenord train 928 on the Brescia-Iseo-Edolo line (departure from the town at 9.56 a.m., arrival in Edolo scheduled for 12.19 p.m.), just past the station of Sale Marasino, hit an obstacle protruding over the tracks from a private building site located in an area adjacent to the railway.
Having detected the presence of the obstacle, the driver immediately activated the rapid braking system, but was unable to avoid the collision. Neither the staff nor the passengers on board the train suffered any consequences.
The railway police intervened for the investigation. At 12.40 p.m., the authorities gave the go-ahead for the train to return to Sale Marasino station, from where passengers resumed their journey on board a replacement bus.
Trenord announces that the damaged train will be withdrawn from service for restoration. For this reason, traffic on the Brescia-Iseo-Edolo line has been temporarily suspended between Sale Marasino and Marone-Zone stations. Rides were subject to route restrictions and cancellations.
Thanks to the timely intervention of the Polfer, from 1 p.m. onwards, traffic was ordered to resume and gradually returned to normal.
What happened endangered the safety of the crew and passengers: therefore Trenord awaits the outcome of the investigation in order to take appropriate action.
